Nobody likes to live with conflict

Elderly people can find conflict incredibly stressful and upsetting.
At Kannen Mediation we can help you and your family resolve conflict and improve communications to create a happier family dynamic for everybody.

What is Elder Mediation?

Elder mediation is a structured, confidential process in which a neutral third party, the mediator, helps older adults and their families resolve conflicts related to aging and elder care. It is a collaborative, non-adversarial alternative to legal action, focused on improving communication, preserving relationships, and finding mutually agreeable solutions. It is an opportunity for the older person to be heard and included in decisions made about them and their wellbeing.

Elder mediation helps to resolve:

  • Disputes around transitioning to aged care.
  • Care-related issues.
  • Roles and responsibilities of family members or carers.
  • Day-to-day living arrangements for the elderly person.
  • Issues relating to management of finances/investment decisions.
  • Issues related to family trusts, wills, or estate management.

Mediation can be initiated by family members, carers, or the elderly person themselves.
